Prove your status
If you need to prove your immigration status to someone, you can do this online with a share code.
What you can do in the UK
You can:
- stay in the UK for up to 6 months or until your visa expires, whichever is sooner – each stay must be no longer than 6 months
- visit the UK for tourism, and to see family and friends
- volunteer with a registered charity for up to 30 days
- travel through the UK to another country
- do a recreational course of up to 30 days
- do certain business activities
- take part in permitted paid engagements or events as an expert in your profession
- carry out certain activities as an academic, senior doctor or dentist
- study, do a placement or take an exam
- take part in a school exchange programme
- visit for medical reasons
- rent somewhere to live
- travel in and out of the country as permitted by your visa – you must provide a valid passport or travel document to enter the UK
What you cannot do
You cannot:
- access public funds
- work in the UK
- live in the UK for long periods of time through frequent or successive visits
- give notice of a marriage or civil partnership, register a civil partnership, or get married
- do paid or unpaid work for a UK company or as a self-employed person, unless you are doing a permitted paid engagement or event
Legal basis of status
You have been granted entry clearance. This means when you arrive in the UK you will have permission to enter and stay (also known as leave to enter) subject to the conditions and validity of your visa.
Keep your details up to date
You must keep your personal details up to date in your UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) account.
You can check and update the details in your UKVI account including your:
- phone number
- email address
- home address
- passport or other identity documents, including change of name or nationality
If there is an error on your eVisa
If any of the information is wrong, you can report an error with your eVisa.
Before you travel
You may be delayed or denied boarding by carriers if you have not added the passport or identity document you are travelling with to your account.
Use the update your UKVI account details service to add a passport or identity document to your account.
Nationality information
When you add a passport or identity document to your account, the nationality on the newly added document will be displayed on your eVisa.
